Good
I am a first timer after having tried helmet mounted and handlebar mounted mirrors for many years. It does take a minute to get used to them - head up and slight turn to left. I like the depth perception way better. I went with the oversized mirror and sm glad i did. Impressed the the photo chromatic lenses - so far so good
I love my trieye sunglasses . I just purchased a new pair wity pink frames . The Safety of riding and being able to quickly glance at the mirror to see cars or what’s behind you is incredible. I have had several friends purchase and I always have other riders ask me about them . They are a must if you are a cyclist !
Polarized glasses are comfortable and provide excellent coverage around edges. I’ve used mirrors clamped to visors for years and had to carry spares. Love that the trieye mirror gives good visibility and doesn’t fall off.
I have the full setup. 2 mirrors and photochromatic lenses with the prescription insert and silicone lanyard. The 30 day trial was very inviting. I uses them for e-trike, electric unicycle and vehicle driving. Customer support has been top notch and I really love my Trieyes. People ask me about them all the time.
Really like your "TriEye" product because it's much safer seeing what's behind me rather than actually looking back. I highly recommend this to all cyclists!
I had a pair similar to this but unfortunately lost them on an ambulance ride after a crash. This time I ordered the ones that are photochromatic but still with mirrors on both sides. Have not gotten to wear them yet as I am still off my feet. Cannot wait until I can ride again with these glasses.
I’ve been riding a bike for exercise for several years, since I had to taper down on my running (which I had done for 45 yrs). I received my pair of Trieyes last March as a bday present, from a non-bike rider. I had never heard of them. But after using them, I found them to be invaluable. I wouldn’t consider riding without them. This past holiday season, I purchased a pair for my brother & another pair for a close friend. I want us all to be safer when we ride & you should too!
I’m all in on the TriEyes. After training myself to use them, I find them a better solution than my bar-end mirrors. For the record, I never got the hang of helmet-mount mirrors.
Here’s why I’m removing the bar-end mirrors from my 3 bikes and using TriEyes (“The Pros”):
- Similar head motion. Rather than looking down (bar-end mirror), I’m looking left around my shoulder. Roughly the same movement away from center, just in a different direction.
- Closer view. The mirror is much closer to my aging eyes.
- Wider available field of view. By moving my head, I can scan much more of the road behind me without repointing the handlebars.
- No knee bumping. A hard standing push with a turned wheel doesn’t change where my mirror is pointed.
- Multi-bike doesn’t matter. One pair of TriEyes works on every bike, though the bar-end mirrors ARE cheaper if you only have a few bikes.
- Simpler packing bikes for planes. I don’t have to remove and remount the bar end mirror when I pack my bike for a plane trip.
There are some things to keep in mind ("The Cons”):
- Training required. For me, at least, it took a few rides before I got comfortable with them.
- Can’t change your shades. There is only one style of TriEye, though clip-ons and inserts are available for prescription glasses wearers.
- Mislaid = no mirror. If you prone to losing your sunglasses, TriEyes probably aren’t for you. And replacements aren’t cheap or local.
- Expensive. Unless you’re a top-shelf glasses wearer, that is, and I don’t know how TriEyes compare. I’ve previously been getting by with < $10 US pairs of glasses. Yeah… I’m cheap. And not noted for being fashion conscious. :-)
- 2nd pair required for opposite-side drive countries. I needed a 2nd “right hand” pair for riding in the UK/Australia/New Zealand.
Great for safety, style, and durability.
I’ve been an avid cyclist since my college days, generally riding 5k to 6k miles per year. A few years ago I suddenly lost vision in my right eye (literally overnight) and was diagnosed with with a condition known as NAION (very rare and had none of the markers that was generally associated with this condition e.g., high blood pressure, overweight, other underlying conditions , etc.). Needless to say, it was devastating with the realization that I could probably never ride safely again (with the loss of that vision it made looking back too dangerous particularly when moving at higher speeds, as well as having awareness of where other cyclists were in a peloton). I couldn’t afford the risk of a bicycle mirror that could detach in an accident as it poised a potential risk to my other eye. Then over 3 plus years ago, I discovered Tri-Eye and I’m back in the saddle. It affords me the cycling visibility that I had prior to the “event” (actually better) and I am so greatful. Many of my cyclists friends have now acquired the glasses as part of their inventory. Tri-Eye team - I can’t thank you enough - your glasses are a life changer!
I have had a bike for ten years or so, and I never bothered to get a bike mirror. Recently, in a new location, I was gifted with an E-bike. Whoa! I figured I should be responsible, so I determined I needed a mirror (or mirrors) for the bike. I tried a mirror attached to my handlebars, but it was unsatisfactory. The distortion of distance and size of objects behind me rendered it useless. I tried a humble mirror, the TAKE A LOOK CYCLING MIRROR, a long wire with a mirror at one end, and the other end attached to my sunglasses. I got two, one for each side. Aside from how dorky these mirrors looked, they actually worked great once I got use to them. However, I found them awkward somehow. When I saw the TriEyes solution on YouTube, it immediately caught my eye. (I got one with mirrors on left and right shades. It seems to me silly to have a mirror on only one side. Hazardous traffis and impediments can come from any side.) The dorky TAKE A LOOK mirrors undorked, nice shades with mirrors hidden (mostly) discretely behind the dark lenses. It takes a similar brief awkward "getting used to it" period of a few days, as the TAKE A LOOK mirrors, and once one learns how to position them, they work GREAT! I wear glasses, and I wasn't sure these would fit. I see there are clip-on TriEye shades available, but with the mirror on only one side. I want mirrors on both sides, so I took a chance and bought the regular shades. They work find, fitting well over my seeing glasses. (However, if a clip-on version with mirrors on BOTH sides were produced, I would probably get one of those, as well.)
In short, i love this solution to biking safety. I love my TriEyes!
Camilla the glasses are fantastic but I’m a fair weather cyclist and I live in Manchester in the United Kingdom and it’s cold raining at the moment so when we get a bit of sunshine I will be ready for it and I will get back to you 😂
I can see what is coming up behind me when dag walking. Could be a scooter, baby carriage, jogger etc. Keeps us from getting run down.
Great for rowing. Love them
