The mirror & how it works

How does the TriEye mirror work?

The mirror is a small, optically precise reflective element built directly into the lower-outer corner of the polycarbonate lens. To check behind, tilt your eyes down 10–15 degrees — your head stays still. After a few rides it becomes as natural as glancing at a cycling computer.

How big is the mirror?

About the size of a thumbnail. It sits in the corner of your peripheral vision so it doesn't obstruct your forward view, yet still gives a wide enough field of view to see riders and vehicles approaching from behind.

Will the mirror fog up?

The mirror fogs and clears at the same rate as the rest of the lens. In high-humidity conditions you can use any anti-fog spray that's safe for polycarbonate. The wraparound frames on The View also include vents that minimise fogging during high-effort rides.

Can I adjust the mirror's position?

Yes. The mirror is mounted on a precision housing that lets you fine-tune the angle to match your head position and riding posture. Set it once for your usual position and it stays put.

What's the difference between a single mirror and a dual mirror?

Single-mirror models (left or right) are standard for cycling and running. Dual-mirror models have a mirror on both lenses — designed mainly for rowing where awareness on both sides is critical. Most cyclists pick a single mirror on the side that matches the road they ride on.

Products & fit

What's the difference between The View, The Classic, and The Clip?

The View is a full sport wraparound frame for cycling, running, and rowing — maximum coverage, widest lens choice. The Classic is a lifestyle frame that looks like everyday glasses but performs like sport eyewear — best for commuters and runners who want a less aggressive look. The Clip is a magnetic mirror module that snaps onto your existing glasses — perfect if you already wear prescription or premium sunglasses.

Which size should I order — S140 or M145?

M145 (145 mm temple width) fits most adult faces. Pick S140 (140 mm) if you have a narrower face or prefer a tighter, more secure fit. Both sizes use the same lens, so swapping replacement lenses between sizes works fine.

Are TriEye glasses helmet-compatible?

Yes. Temple arms on The View and The Classic are designed to sit comfortably under standard cycling, running, and rowing helmets without pressure points. Most riders wear theirs over the helmet straps with no issue.

Can I get prescription lenses?

Yes — The View supports an optional Rx insert frame that clips behind the main lens. If you already wear prescription glasses you'd rather keep, The Clip adds the rearview mirror to any pair. We don't currently make custom prescription lenses with the mirror integrated.

Lenses

Which lens type should I choose?

High-Contrast Smoke — most versatile, great for medium-to-bright daylight. Polarized Smoke — best for harsh sun and glare-heavy conditions (essential for rowing). Photochromic 0–2 / 0–3 — adapts automatically to changing light. Clear — for night, dawn, dusk. Reflective (Red, Blue, Green) — bold style with full UV protection. All lenses are UV400.

Are TriEye lenses UV-protected?

Yes — every TriEye lens is UV400, which means 100% protection against UVA and UVB up to 400 nm. The same protection you'd find in premium sport sunglasses.

Can I replace just the lens?

Yes. Replacement lenses for The View are sold individually in every colour and mirror configuration. The mirror ships with the lens — the housing in the frame is permanent.

Use & care

How do I clean the mirror and lens?

Use the included microfibre cloth. For smudges, use a lens spray or mild soap and water. Avoid paper towels, alcohol-based cleaners, and dry wiping — these can scratch polycarbonate over time.

Are TriEye glasses good for running?

Yes. Many TriEye customers run on shared roads where a head-check is unsafe — the eye-tilt glance gives full rear awareness without breaking stride. The Classic is the most popular running frame; The View works well for trail and high-pace road running.

Are they good for rowing?

Yes — and dual-mirror models are designed specifically for rowing. With a mirror on each lens you can see the course ahead from a forward-facing rowing position, no head-turn needed. Polarized lenses cut glare from the water.
