# TriEye — full brand context > Patented integrated rearview mirrors for cycling, running, and rowing glasses. Designed in Scandinavia. Used by riders in more than 40 countries. ## About In 2016, TriEye founder Carsten Juell Fongen was cycling with his family on the dusty roads in the Norwegian mountains when he was hit from behind — by his own son. Lying bleeding in the road, he had one clear thought: he would have seen the collision coming if the mirror lived in his glasses. Handlebar mirrors vibrate. Helmet mirrors catch wind. Turning your head takes your eyes off the road — and most riders subtly turn their bars with their head, directly into the line of passing cars. None of the existing solutions were good enough. So TriEye built something better — a rearview mirror integrated directly into the lens of a pair of glasses. TriEye's first model launched on Kickstarter in spring 2018 after the patent process was finalised. Later that year, the company won Public Choice at Eurobike 2018 (Friedrichshafen, Germany) — operating from two tents at the local campground. ISPO 2019 followed with a Gold award. The third-generation TriEye VIEW launched in late 2021. Today, TriEye is used by cyclists, runners, and rowers in over 40 countries. The mirror is covered by international patents (PCT/EP 2018/073198 — granted in the USA in February 2022 and Europe in October 2022) and manufactured with the same optical precision as the lens itself. TriEye is a small independent company based in Norway and Sweden. Carsten's three children have gradually joined the business over the years — in product development, production, and sales. ## How the mirror works The mirror is a small, precisely angled reflective element embedded in the lower corner of the polycarbonate lens. When the wearer tilts their eyes slightly — about 10 to 15 degrees — they see a clear reflection of what's behind them. It's not like looking in a car mirror. There's no head turn. Riding or running posture stays exactly the same. Eyes move, head doesn't. After a few rides, the glance becomes completely natural — like checking a speedometer on a bike computer. The mirror is available in single (left or right) and dual configurations. Single mirrors are standard for cycling and running. Dual mirrors are designed for rowing, where visibility on both sides is needed. ## What makes it different - **Integrated, not attached.** The mirror is part of the lens itself — not glued on, not clipped. It won't fall off, rattle, or shift position. - **Optically precise.** Manufactured with the same precision as the lens. Clear, distortion-free rear view in all conditions. - **Adjustable position.** The mirror can be fine-tuned to match head position and riding style for the clearest possible view. - **Patented design.** Protected by international patents filed through Onsagers, one of Scandinavia's leading patent firms. Designed in Scandinavia. ## Products ### The View Full wrap-around sport frame with integrated mirror. Maximum coverage, wind protection, and the widest lens options. Enhanced contrast, true colours. TriEye's most versatile lens. - **Polarized Smoke** — best for bright sun and glare-heavy conditions. Dramatically cuts reflected glare from road surfaces and water. Essential for rowing and sunny rides. - **Photochromic 0-2 / 0-3** — best for variable light. Adapts automatically from light to dark. The 0-3 has the widest range. - **Clear** — low light, night riding, overcast days. - **Reflective (Red, Blue, Green)** — bright conditions with bold style; full UV protection. ## Fit & sizing - **Sizes:** Medium (M145 · 145mm temple width) fits most adults. Small (S140 · 140mm) for narrower faces or a tighter fit. - **Helmet compatibility:** The temple arms on The View and The Classic are designed to sit under standard cycling, running, and rowing helmets without pressure points. - **Prescription:** supported via an insert frame (The View) or by using The Clip on an existing pair of Rx glasses. ## Mirror care & durability - Clean with the included microfibre cloth; for smudges use a lens spray or mild soap with water. - Avoid paper towels, alcohol-based cleaners, and dry wiping — they can scratch the polycarbonate over time. - The mirror is integrated into the polycarbonate lens — the same impact-resistant material used in safety eyewear. - If the lens is scratched, order a [replacement lens](https://trieye.com/collections/spare-parts-and-accessories) — the mirror ships with the lens. - Fog: the mirror fogs and de-fogs the same way the lens does. In high-humidity conditions use an anti-fog spray compatible with polycarbonate. ## Shipping - Ships worldwide to 40+ countries. - Standard delivery: 3–14 business days. - Free shipping on orders over €69. - All local taxes and import duties are included at checkout — no surprise fees on delivery. - Tracking number emailed on dispatch. ## Returns, warranty & payments - **Returns:** 30 days from delivery.
